2012 Heritage Lecture Coverage

January 12, 2013

On December 4, 2012, the U.S. Capitol Historical Society hosted the 2012 Heritage Lecture: “Comity and Contention in Congress: 1962-2012″. The lecture featured a panel discussion hosted by political columnist and commentator Mark Shields with former Senators John Breaux and Trent Lott, and former Representatives Beverly Byron, William H. Gray III, and Robert Livingston.

The event featured a lively conversation among our panelists as they reflected on the changes that have occurred in Congress over the years and offered their suggestions for stopping the gridlock that so often defines Congress today.
